Teaching arbitration

On January 28th 2009 the Battonier VEROONE and the Batonnier LEBAS introduced arbitration and the CAREN to the students of the Master of Procedural Law thanks to the initiative and assistance of Mrs BOTTIAU.

This operation took place last year on March 11th 2008.

A seminar of introduction to arbitration for students preparing for the bar took place from February 11th 2008 to February 15th 2008. Created at the initiative of Mrs Chantal BECUWE, this seminar has proven a major success with 108 students taking part to it.

On September 17th 2006 asymposium on international arbitration was held at the Maison de l’Avocat in Le Havre from 2PM to 5PM.

The bar associations of Lille, Douai, Cambrai and Valenciennes were concerned by this event, and the information was disseminated within the jurisdiction of 3 Courts of Appeal: Douai, Amiens and Rouen.

This conference was within the framework of the catalogue of training of the CFPA.  Mrs BECUWE was in charge and organizer of the module.

The speakers were:

·                    Mr Bernard CIVEYRAC – President of the Court of Appeal of Normandie

·                    Mrs Cécile LEGROS – Lecturer in Rouen

·                    Mr Bernard MARGUET – Lawyer and arbitrator at Le Havre

·                    Mr Bertrand MOREAU – Law Professor, specialist in Arbitration

·                    The ASCOT – Association française cotonnière

·                    And Mrs BECUWE – CAREN

Le Havre, arbitral centre, was chosen for this occasion.

On March 17th 2005 at the University of Lille I, Mr Henri BELOT, Mrs BECUWE, Mr VERONNE and Mr LEBON introduced arbitration to students of the Master Commerce and Management of International Affairs.
